October 2008 Partnership Conference

Post Conference Update:

We plan to share with the church in Boskovice  what we do at our church to celebrate the Christmas season by sending photos, music etc...  

Sermon Exchange

Slideshow presentation in January with our adult education class to get our congregation interested in the partnership.  

Form groups to help with the various areas of possible contact with the church in Boskovice.  

These areas are the following:

•Staff-sharing ideas

•Christmas/Easter/Lent/traditions/Sermons/pastor's blog

•Church Choir: Our choir has expressed an interest in going to the CR to give concerts

•Shawls- several ladies in our church make Shawls for people who are in the hospital or house bound.  They pray as they make the shawls and our pastors take them when visiting.  Marek's church thought they could use these shawls to minister to their congregation and community.  I am sending a few to him soon.

•Diaconia- possibly selling items made by the Diaconia center near Boskovice (beautiful pottery) at our holiday Bethlehem Bazaar(possible 2009).  This could be a way for our two congregations to work together to help raise funds for this center.

•Explore Mission Project together

•Education:  Marek said that many people in his church and community are interested in learning English.  We are hoping to develop a program with members of our congregation who specialize in Education or English as a second language to partner with English speakers/teachers in Marek's church to hopefully start a "skype" buddy language program.  We are hoping to develop conversation partners of all ages like the old fashion pen pals of yesterday

•Youth exchange:We are hoping to send kids from our congregation & receive kids from their congregation, hopefully, during our vacation bible school.
